Phthisis/Atrophy of the Eyeball
Description of the Disease and Clinical Picture
Phthisis/Atrophy of the eyeball is an acquired extreme reduction of the eyeball size, accompanied by a change in its shape, which occurs as a result of terminal changes in the eye due to inflammation, loss of the intraocular pressure following perforation of the eye, and retinal detachment. The affected eye is blind, small, with a fibrotic cornea, uveal adhesions, cataract, and detached retina.
