Therapy
Surgical intervention is the most reliable solution. The bent cartilage is straightened with a thermocautery probe, or the curled edges of the cartilage are excised. If the third eyelid gland is prolapsed as well (“cherry eye”), the repositioning of the gland should be pursued concurrently with the cartilage repair.
