Description of the Disease and Clinical Picture

The third eyelid is supported by a "T"-shaped cartilage. Sometimes this can bend, twist, or invert, leading to deformation of the third eyelid, particularly its free edge. Therapy

Surgical intervention is the most reliable solution. The bent cartilage is straightened with a thermocautery probe, or the curled edges of the cartilage are excised. If the third eyelid gland is prolapsed as well (“cherry eye”), the repositioning of the gland should be pursued concurrently with the cartilage repair.
